LOCATION: Rokassa Village, Masimera Chiefdom (successful candidate(s) must be prepared for postings to other
areas of operations)
START DATE: 1st February, 2021.
DURATION: 1 year contract with the possibility for extension

Jericho Road Ministries (JRM) has been working in Sierra Leone since 2013. In early 2015 JRM
opened the Adama Martha Memorial Community Health Centre (AMMCHC) in Koidu Town,
Kono District, Sierra Leone. JRM in 2017, in collaboration with Edunations opened the Orfonthy
Community Health Centre (OCHC). Recently, in July 2020 JRM also opened the Kumao Health
Facility to provide quality healthcare for the people of Kumao and its environs.
JRM seeks to improve healthcare access and available services to the people of Kono District
and Masimera Chiefdom, Port Loko District; regardless of their economic, religious, or social
standing. The goal is to assist Sierra Leone in developing sufficient healthcare resources and
infrastructure in order for people to be healthy and whole. We are a Christian health

Jericho Road Ministries is looking to recruit a Maternal Child Health Assistant (MCHA) who has attended
a recognized training institution and holds a certificate in Maternal Child Health with appropriate
recognition of credential by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Sierra Leone. The role will be under the
supervision of the Deputy Director. The successful candidate must be able work with and assist the
Midwife with maternal cases ranging from ante-natal to post-natal and also work with medical providers
in the management of patients and use nursing judgment to provide assessment and evaluation of
patients; utilizing nursing skills in the care and treatment of patients.

 Graduation from an accredited nursing institution with a current Sierra Leone license.
 Demonstrated success in providing clinical care and nursing support with a solid knowledge
base of medical practices and procedures within the primary care environment.
 Demonstrated proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment.
 Professional and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
 Demonstrated ability to function autonomously and discern when to seek direction.
 Ability to develop collaborative working relationships.
 Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively in a fastpaced
 Must be able to supervise and manage a team of nurses and medical assistants

 More than 2 years of experience as a Maternal Child Health Assistant with an NGO or Government Health Facility
 Experience working in maternity and pediatric units in a primary care setting
 Good writing and communication skills,
 Basic knowledge in computing with good data entry skills
 Fluency in Krio, and Themne beneficial
 Good leadership skills


 Must be able to work variable shifts and make or take calls.
 Must be able to hear well enough to make assessments of patients,
 Must be able to speak well enough to present intramural and extramural education to communities, patients, and their families.
 Candidate must be willing to live and work fulltime in Rokassa and be prepared for postings to other areas of operation within the country.
